May: Bank Holiday Bonanza Month
Hi there, and a warm welcome to you all,
We’re about to embark on a month with so many holidays that there’s almost more time off (counting weekends) than there are ‘ordinary’ days.
At first, that prospect sounds incredibly attractive, wouldn’t you say? All that free time! All those parties!
But a surfeit of anything, even if it’s something we enjoy, can leave us feeling tired and perhaps a bit lost. And a consistent lack of structure can trigger poor health habits, for example eating loads of sugary foods and/or sleeping poorly, and these could be hard to shift later on.
The secret is to find a balance, to know how much unstructured time suits you, your family and your dog—and then to enjoy that ‘right’ amount of time to the full.
Caroline and I hope to help you find that balance this month, so you can get the most out of our three Bank Holidays. I’ll suggest the elements in your routine that are easiest to let drift (and reinstate later if necessary) and those that it’s best to maintain. Caroline will help you understand what’s best for your dog when routines change, and how to know when reassurance and a return to some structure is needed, and how to provide it.
Together we hope to help you make May 2023 a time to look back on with pride and delight. Happy Bank Holidays!
Linda and Caroline
