Have Celebrations Left You Dog Tired?
Hello, and welcome.
I hope you embraced last weekend’s celebrations in the ways that Linda suggested - taking the time to enjoy a moment to stop, reflect, and connect with loved ones.
While celebrations provide so much joy, they can sometimes leave you more tired than before - especially if you tried to cram as much as possible into those special 4 days.
Have you ever felt like you needed a holiday to get over a holiday?
Your dog might also be feeling a little jaded. They may have endured the hustle and bustle of street parties, visitors to your home, or long car rides… you perhaps even heard fireworks. When we experience too much stress or excitement in a short space of time, it’s worth taking some time to re-balance.
Homeopathy
The Queen, for whom we’ve enjoyed these recent celebrations, is a great believer in homeopathy and herbal medicines when it comes to her dogs. Try adding some Rescue Remedy to a dish of water for your dog to drink if they need it. Just a few drops will suffice. For yourself, a couple of drops on your tongue. It’s an easy dose of calm for all.
Food
There may have been too much cake and drink enjoyed over the long weekend. Your dog could have received a few too many extras from guests too. Food (of the right type) can be a healer - both physically and emotionally. The Queen also believes in feeding her dogs a fresh, unprocessed diet. Try to focus on adding lots of leafy greens, perhaps some bone broth, along with food (or oils) high in Omega-3. Omega-3s can boost your dog’s skin as well as their brain. They also help to inhibit inflammatory processes that stress is part of.
Rest
Just as the Queen chose to prioritise the Jubilee events she was able to most comfortably partake in over the weekend, spend the next few weeks choosing activities wisely. If a long walk will boost both yours and your dog’s mood, enjoy it. But if a shorter, quieter stroll would be more beneficial then choose that. Balance in our dog’s lives is so important - ensure their week is filled with calm activities alongside those more adventurous. And focus on sleep! It’s a great way to reduce stress and aid healing.
Until next time, be kind to yourself.
