Gathering what you learned
Hi and welcome back,
If 19 months ago, someone had told you that for the next year and a half at least restrictions of some sort would be imposed on you, that you would never know when they might change, and that you faced a health issue no one fully understood…well, you’d probably feel it would be too overwhelming to endure.
Yet you did it. You got through.
And because we had to change almost everything about our daily life, we were forced to think about what really counts, what makes life bearable when everything is at sea.
Now, as we’re becoming busier again, it’s easy to simply to slip back into the old ways, letting those realisations drift away, promising ourselves we’ll get around to them again…someday.
Please don’t. What a shame it would be to throw away what you discovered!
To help you keep that thread of meaning at the centre of your life, I’d like you to set aside half an hour this week. Sit somewhere quiet—dogs are of course allowed as company--and try to recall how you got through this extraordinary time, particularly during the first lockdown when we really didn’t know what we were facing. How did you organise your days? What activities, which people, did you suddenly realise are what makes your life meaningful rather than simply busy?
We’re going to use that information as the basis for the ‘homework’ in my next blog, so do set aside that half hour, and make some notes.
Warmest wishes until next time!
Linda
