Christmas is Over?
Hello, and welcome.
Whether you celebrate Christmas or have just been enjoying some time off work, I hope the past week has been filled with joy.
It’s been a different year here than last, being able to have family to visit and even stop over. While we’ve still been staying safe, hopefully you’ve enjoyed a more connected time this year.
While you might feel like that’s Christmas over for another year for you - for your dog/s the hangover might last a little longer. With the extra social interactions and busyness of life, they can need some time to return to normal. To get over the excitement of the past month. As I mentioned in my last post, one important thing for dogs is DOWN time.
Down time can include having a few rest days - days off from the world, where you focus on indoor connections through play, training, cuddles, and scentwork.
Just as you might be planning a detox after all the festive feasting, think of Rest Days as an emotional detox for your dogs. It’s a chance for them to hunker down and rid their body of any excess stress.
So, while you pack up the decorations and put Christmas behind you for another year, allow your dog a little longer to calm down from this year’s events.
Until next time, rest up,
Caroline
